Years ago in the 70's when I worked in a Bank Branch we got three hours off from 12-3 on Good Friday and while some may have gone to Church. We mostly went for a very long and liquid lunch. When we got back it was amazing that we could even cash checks correctly, and NOBODY balance in their cash, so it was usually 7:30 or 8 or later when we left. The managers couldn't complain because many of them never came back from lunch. Now you would would be fired for coming back to lunch drunk. Banks no longer close on that day in California anyway.....Two many losses.

Things are lame now. Life was better when nobody had an issue with you saying at noon on a Friday:
"I'm off to a business meeting close to my apartment so I'll not be back to the office today. Have a good weekend, Boss."
