Was anyone else as obsessed with the comic book ads as much as I was? I'd say I got 50% of my enjoyment of comics like Archie from pouring over those back-page promises of x-ray vision, life-sized inflatable dolls, and saying goodbye to your 90 lb weakling. Please, squirting pens, snapping gum, handshake buzzers and whoopie cushions? I was all over that shit. Down!

I loved those ads! I did actually order something once-- the "remote control" ghost. It turned out to be a white balloon, a white plastic sheet with a hole for the "head," and some fishing line. It set me back a whole dollar, a sizeable sum when you have a quarter a week allowance (this was around 1970). I was disappointed, to say the least. And I definitely, as a consequence, did not order the submarine that was also in those ads.
HAHAHAHA remote control ghost! oh, that's a good one.
i seem to remember ordering a life-like, life-sized doll thingie. not an inflatable sexy time doll, but a big one. anyhow, it was crappy and fit into a shoebox. i guess i had blocked that memory out. thanks, johnny yen!
