I Think I Love You Chaka Khan
Bitch can sing, have wicked cool earrings, a crazy amazin' head of hair AND play the drums? Do you know how fuckin' hard the drums are? It's like "rub your tummy and pat your head" on a case of beer times a billion. I got a private lesson at a New Year's Eve party a few years ago. Kick drum, kick drum, kick drum, "Ok, Anne, you got the beat? Now add in your arms!" WHAT? Fuck that. It takes a certain type of peep to roll the bones.

Oh yeah, she's my girl-- she's a hometown girl--a fellow Chicagoan.
Love her big hit with Rufus, "Tell Me Something Good," but she's also done other great stuff-- if you can find it, get ahold of her song (another with Rufus) "You Got the Love." She's got an amazing set of pipes.
She also sang with Steve Winwood on the song "Higher Love."
You'll note in the vid that her band was racially mixed-- a rarity back then.
She's also a very cool person-- as a young lady, she worked with the Black Panthers, serving breakfast to kids in the ghetto.
You KNOW I'm obsessed with her, right?! Ask Sara about how I insist on playing "Chanson Papillion" over and over again. SHE IS AMAZING.
One of my first trips to NYC she and her entourage- assume it was back ups & band- walked past me as I was at an ourdoor cafe in the Village and I was SO EXCITED.
