Learning it was 'cummerbund' rather than 'cumberbund' was on par with the disappointment I experienced when I realized professional wrestling was fake.
professional wrestling isn't fake. it's professional. it has to be real. come on, now.
And I always thought it was cummerbun. Because we Upstate New Yorkers are too lazy to finish words. Either that, or are mouth are too filled with food to use ending consonants.
