In preparation for my weekend in Baltimore sometime this spring (dates TBD), I've been researching a little of it's history. Pictured here are Penrose Street's rowhouses, in which marble steps were attached in an attempt to add some elegance to the otherwise drab architecture. Saturdays were "scrub days." Photo by A. It looks like they just stacked those marble blocks together jenga style. They were probably all stolen within a month.
I like the second house where the guy is cleaning the steps!! His wife is the smartest one on the block!
In my neighborhood, every day is "leave your dog's shit on the sidewalk" day.
Those days are long gone...
Now days you'd be lucky not to find a dead body on your front steps on a Saturday.
