Why Not Do Something You've Never Done Before: NYC Police Museum

NYC Police Department, circa 1860
Why not check out the New York City Police Department? But not by getting arrested. This time, try the NYPD Museum. The last time I visited it way back in '95, the museum was located on 22nd or 21st Street, and as my luck would have it, it was closed on that day. Since then it's moved to much bigger digs downtown near the South Street Seaport and has broadened its collection and exhibits to include the guts of an old police station, squad cars through the years, handguns, shields, badges, etc .

Policewoman, circa 1967

Read about the history of the NYPD here. Read more about the museum here. Now stay out of trouble and learn yourself something. Go on. Git.

I admire you for going to the museum. I, being a tad intimidated by our men in blue, would be as uncomfortable as whore in church....

...and I know what that feels like

Who WOULDN'T have wanted to be a police gal in 1967?

Imagine the equality.
