From the Archives: Vintage Doodle

One of the first shots of little monster, a few days after she arrived in 1999 to be my new roommate. Yeah, the floor is dusty. So?

Doodle in 2007. See that fake grey mouse thingie in the baby picture? I have shots of her biting the head off a real live thingie exactly that size under the porch up in Vermont. I believe they're called voles, and she freakin' loves 'em. BINGO?! IDEA! I'm posting that tomorrow. Parental discretion advised.

Now I know why a "drunk Anne" couldn't resist the Doodle, back then.

Adorable is an understatement.

yes, doodle was adopted after tee many martoonis at Pravda, Manhattan's Russian Vodka Bar back in 1999 the nightcap after an office holiday party.

she was in the care of the little rocker chick who worked the coat check, and i had checked my coat. (probably under duress, i'm cheap). and when i asked to hold her, hammered, it was good night, anne. "call me in the morning," i said. "i'm too drunk to adopting things."

3 hours after i got home, the phone rang. "still want the kitten? i'll bring her over with food and a litter box and she's had all her shots and..."

"what? who's this? oh. oh, good grief. fine, bring her over. man. jesus christ."

15 minutes later she was there with the cat and gone. i looked at this cat, and she looked at me, and i literally said to her, "Welcome, cat. um, make yourself comfortable, and we'll get to know each other in about...11 hours, K? i'm going to sleep off this hangover. so..laters."
