Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater Was A Dick

Peter Peter pumpkin eater,
Had a wife but couldn't keep her.
He put her in a pumpkin shell,
And there he kept her very well.
Clearly, Peter was not a good husband. One interpretation of this old American nursery rhyme is that Peter was terrified that his wife was sleeping around, so he put her in a pumpkin to prevent the behavior. Look how pissed she is. She can't believe she married him. Wouldn't you sleep around? Another theory is that Peter killed his wife and hid her corpse in the pumpkin. Either way, Peter was bad. Peter was a misunderstood genius. Not like that gigolo Georgie Porgie, kissin' all sorts of women and making them cry. Peter, foreseeing the inevitable waning of his wife towards 'ol GP, stuck her in the pumpkin, only to shelter her from the rumor mill, which was spinning wildly while Georgie groped, doped and had his way with all the womenfolk. "What's with this Georgie?" She'll think. "Why is Sylvia crying? I must know! I must meet this Georgie." Which we all know means, "I'm givin' up my pudding pie to Georgie! I can't be the only woman who doesn't!"

Good for you Peter. He did it for love. He did it for mankind.
