LOL Rules

I know it's tempting for some to type LOL all the time. For the old fogies, that is an acronym for Laughing Out Loud. Thus, it should not be used in any other situtation other than you were actually laughing out loud.

As in, somebody heard you laughing and just had to ask, "What's so funny?"

I feel it's really being abused and thrown about willy nilly. WILLY NILLY! It should not be used to temper an awkward statement or question like, "Your boobs are huge! Are they real? LOL" or "Give me that money you owe me or I'll burn your house down! LOL!" Because you're seriously curious about that broad's cans and their content. And you're quite serious about getting your money or you're gonna burn down a house. So, you know, say what you mean.

To review, if you laughed audibly, then you may type LOL. If you did not, then you may not. Dig? If you laughed on the inside, smirked, shook your head, made a "pppffft!" noise, none of that is LOL. All different acronyms.

Let's put the R-E-S-P-E-C-T back into LOL, shall we? Thanks.

NRLJFSABPUPSIHPBNYGP! (not really laughing just smug and bitchy per usual ps i hate people but not you guys, promise)

So, what acronym can we use for smirking or laughing on the inside? Perhaps we should just write *smirk*, or LOTI.

I totally agree with you, but I think maybe I need to join LOL Anonymous or something. Is there a 12 step program to stop abusing LOL???

I prefer a "Huddla Huddla" then smack 'em on the forehead like Benny Hill would that little old man.

That poor little old man.

What I give to kiss that marble smooth head, lick my fingers and smack him silly. We'd be LOLin' pip pip cherrio mates.

But is there a technical difference between LOL and lol? To me, the lower-case version seems almost like an audible giggle. Kind of.

I am not one for the LOL (or lol) at ALL. I think a quick 'funny' would work, or better yet--'ha ha' which is my favorite. You get that I'm laughing and I'm not typing lol. Works better, I think.

Ha ha

My friend's mum thinks that LOL stands for 'lots of love'. She signs every email:

LOL, Mum.

It's too cute to tell her the truth.
