A Suitcase and an Old Guitar

I have a vivid memory of doing pre-Pledge of Allegiance homeroom calisthenics to the song, Born to Be Alive. I remember thinking that the lyrics didn't make much sense. Of COURSE you're born to be alive, I mean, duh. I think the teacher picked the song and some of the kids were pissed and asked if they could bring in music for the next day's calisthenics: Ozzy's Crazy Train. This was the DISCO SUCKS era, afterall.

Homeroom calisthenics? Did you crawl under your desks in case an atom bomb dropped as well?!

stop drop and roll. no, duck and cover. i don't remember. i think it was part of a failed US Gov't campaign of Food Pyramids and Fitness.

it was 23 years too early--who knew back then we could blame the Japanese for the obesity of kids today? atari. tisk tisk.

Tell me Patrick Hernandez isn't a dead ringer for Pete Doherty. Except less chemically dependent.
