From the deep annals of Antartica, my dear friends GWAR are having a great year: 'Tis their 20th anniversary, and they're celebrating with a new album and Fall tour. Sadly I missed their appearance at Sounds of the Underground in NJ yesterday! I went last year and it was a bloody nightmare, not a clean t-shirt in the crowd when it was all said and done, thanks in part to the magical and relentless failure Bobby Gorman! This cat has a sister, who happens to be a dear friend (I'm dropping names faster than you can catch 'em, jerkoffs), and this lovely lady is none other than songstress and poet DeeAnne Gorman. I saw GWAR in Fort Lauderdale in the mid 90s and was lucky enough to work with a guy who knew them so I was able to go backstage. I must admit it was a bummer seeing them out of constume; sort of ruined the entire experience for me. Although my crush on Slymenstra Hymen managed to remain intact. Mmmmm.
